Another parable He put forth to them, saying: "The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and sowed in his field, which indeed is the least of all seeds; but when it is grown it is greater than the herbs and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and nest in its branches." Matthew 13:31-32
So here is what we know about a mustard seed. It is what it is. A really small seed. It starts out small and after it is planted, it grows! It grows and grows into a plant. It is no longer a seed but a tree that is big enough for birds to nest in.
Jesus is saying that the kingdom of heaven is like that. We start out with just a glimpse. It finds a place in our hearts and minds. It takes root and grows from a glimpse into a truth. Like the tiny seed it is no longer just a glimpse but it has grown into the reality that we live by and next thing we know we are the ones passing out the 'glimpse' into the workings of the kingdom.
Every time we are in the Word we receive a greater glimpse into the workings of the kingdom and what life with God is all about. I would challenge you today to go get your glimpse and let it grow!
