A Set-Apart People

"But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. Once you were not a people, but now you are God's people; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy." 1 Peter 2:9-10

There is a lot of crazy, government stuff going on in the world currently, and if you're not careful, it's easy to get sucked into a debate about all sorts of things. We, as Jesus Freaks, need to remember that God has called us. He called us to be set apart, to be different, to be a people for His own possession.

No matter where our home country, He has called us. No matter what our position in government, He has called us. No matter where we live, He has called us. No matter what our family thinks, He has called us.

No excuses. We are responsible for being a people set apart for Him. So it does not matter where you are or what's happening, you are responsible for making sure you are set apart for Him.

"For the LORD knows the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish." Psalm 1:6

You are responsible for making sure you are set apart and righteous. God will watch over you. However, those who have not separated themselves for God will perish.

I'd say that's reason enough to make sure I am set apart for Jesus!
