"A Question For You?"

So Jesus came again to Cana of Galilee where He had made water into wine. And there was a certain nobleman whose son was sick at Capernaum.

When Jesus had come out of Judea into Galilee, he went to Him and implored Him to come down and heal his son, for he was at the point of death.

Then Jesus said to him, "Unless you people see signs and wonders, you will by no means believe."

Then the nobleman said to Him, "Sir, come down before my child dies!"

Jesus said to him, "Go your way; your son lives." So the man believed the word that Jesus spoke to him, and he went on his way.

And as he was now going down, his servants met him and told him, saying, "Your son lives!"

Then he inquired of them the hour when his son got better. And they said to him. "Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him."

So the father knew that was the same hour in which Jesus said to him, "Your son lives." And he himself believed, and his whole household.   John 4:46-53

Today's thought is in the form of a question. "What have you been imploring Him to do?" This nobleman, who is believed to be a Roman centurion came to Jesus with one purpose. To implore Jesus to come and heal his son who was about to die.

He knew His reputation, that Jesus had turned the water into wine. He was told that Jesus was back in town and went to get him to help with his son. Jesus looked him in the eye and and said, "Go your way, your son lives."

It says that he did just that. He believed the word and went his way. He left without Jesus! He took Him at his word and left! The result was his son lived, and he and his whole household became believers that day.

So the thing is, do we? Do we take Him at His word when we implore Him about an issue in our lives? Do we trust His word on the subject and go our way? Do we influence the "believing" of our households by the faith we put in His words to us? Do we need to see the sign or can we trust His word?

"So the man believed the word that Jesus spoke to him, and he went on his way."
