The Healing God

We argue about Scripture a lot. One of the big issues is whether or not God still physically heals today.
"But he was wounded for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his stripes we are healed." Isaiah 53:5

This verse is taken the wrong way quite often. First, He has taken our sins upon Himself, giving us spiritual healing. Second, His death has brought us peace, giving us emotional healing. Third, His wounds have brought us physical healing.

Yes, God still physically heals today. It may be through doctors, it may be through a Heavenly homecoming, and it may be through His Almighty power, but He does still administer healing to His believers.

"If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand." (Mark 3:24)

The devil knows that if we, the church, are divided about enough details, then we cannot stand against him. So, for instance, he takes healing. Some people believe, and others do not believe. And when someone passes away, he uses that to trick people into thinking God does not heal or answer prayer. All of it is connected to try to pull us away from God. Instead of arguing, we should be uniting. We shamefully argue about a beautiful verse that tells about how God has and will heal us in all ways.

"Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits, who forgives all your iniquities, who heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit, who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy." Psalm 103:2-4

This is not a difference of opinion within the church; this is a division within the church. Don't forget His benefits. Don't forget that His healing extends beyond the emotional and spiritual, but also to the physical. God would not have us arguing about something so foolish, because His heart, is to heal us.

Amen.
