"Keep The Stones Silent"

"I tell you that if these should keep silent, the stones would immediately cry out." Luke 19:40

THESE were His followers. His disciples. THESE were those that had been with Him seeing all that He had done and hearing all that He had been teaching. THESE were those that had been living day to day in His presence. Jesus spoke these words in response as the Pharisees once again called for Him to rebuke the disciples ...the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works they had seen, saying: 'Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord! Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!' And some of the Pharisees called to Him from the crowd, "Teacher, rebuke Your disciples." Luke 19:37-39 They wanted to silence the praises of His followers.

The enemy would try to do the same in the lives of those who would today declare themselves as His. He would try to silence our praise with trials, tribulations, doubt, unbelief, or even really simple distractions. It says that they rejoiced and praised God for all the mighty works they had seen. Things they knew He had done! We know that He has done the mightiest work of all. He paid the price! I heard a quote from Max Lucado the other day. He said, "Worship is the 'Thank you,' that refuses to be silent."

As awesome as it would be to hear 'the stones cry out' it would also be rather heartbreaking! It would mean that you and I were silent with our thanks. It would mean that we, His followers, those that know Him best, were silent in our appreciation for for all we've seen and heard. It would mean that we stayed silent about His mightiest work, our redemption!

We are a part of the THESE that Jesus spoke about and we need to keep the stones silent!
