"Keys To Being Led"

For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. Romans 8:14

Sons are led by the Spirit of God. What does that mean exactly? There are excellent examples in the book of Acts but today we are going to look at chapter 13:2-12. Verse 2 it says ...As they ministered to the Lord and fasted, the Holy Spirit said, 'Now separate to Me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.'

Key#1 - Listen. Hear Him when He speaks. He will give specific instructions as to what is needed.

In verse 4-7 it says ...So, being sent out by the Holy Spirit, they went down to Seleucia, and from there they sailed to Cyprus. And when they arrived in Salamis, they preached the word of God in the synagogues of the Jews. Now when they had gone through the island to Paphos, they found a certain sorcerer, a false prophet, a Jew whose name was Bar-Jesus, who was the proconsul, Sergius Paulus, an intelligent man. This man called for Barnabas and Saul and sought to hear the word of God.

Key#2 - Go where He sends you. He has an important job, a divine appointment for you there!

Starting in verse 8 we learn what happens as Paul continues to listen and obey. ...But Elymas the sorcerer (for so his name is translated) withstood them, seeking to turn the proconsul away from the faith. Then Paul, filled with the Holy Spirit, looked intently at him and said, "O full of all deceit and all fraud, you son of the devil, you enemy of all righteousness, will you not cease perverting the straight ways of the Lord?  And now, indeed, the hand of the Lord is upon you, and you shall be blind, not seeing the sun for a time." And immediately a dark mist fell on him, and he went around seeking someone to lead him by the hand. Then the proconsul believed, when he saw what had been done, being astonished at the teaching of the Lord.

Key#3 - Be willing to allow Him to work through you. Be a vessel. Allow the gifts and fruits of the Spirit to work through you.  He will give you the wisdom and the knowledge to know what you need to do and He will always back you up with whatever sign, wonder, or miracle that is needed! And most important remember, as you, the son or daughter are being led by the Spirit of God, with all the authority that comes with it.

 So, for me the three keys to being led by the Spirit of God are simple. Listen to Him. Go with Him. Allow Him to work through you.
