As Christians, we need to be aware of the times. We need to be on the look out for Jesus’ second coming. We don’t want to be unprepared. We don’t want to be unaware.
We have to be tuned into God, or we are going to be completely lost.
“‘I will bring you into the land that I swore to give to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob. I will give it to you for a possession. I am the Lord.’ Moses spoke thus to the people of Israel, but they did not listen to Moses, because of their broken spirit and harsh slavery.” Exodus 6:8-9
“And all spoke well of him and marveled at the gracious words that were coming from his mouth. And they said, ‘Is not this Joseph’s son?’ And he said to them, ‘Doubtless you will quote to me this proverb, ‘Physician, heal yourself.’ What we have heard you did at Capernaum, do here in your hometown as well.” And he said, ‘Truly, I say to you, no prophet is acceptable in his hometown.’”
Moses and Jesus are both examples of the church missing what God was doing. We can’t let difficulties drag us away from God, and we can’t let disbelief live among us.
“As he sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things be, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the close of the age?” And Jesus answered them, “See that no one leads you astray. For many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and they will lead many astray. And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not alarmed, for this must take place, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be famines and earthquakes in various places.”
However, we need to be focused on God so that we can also tell what’s of God, and what’s of the devil. We need to be immersed in God, so that we don’t miss Him, so that we are not fooled, or weighed down. We need to be focused, so that we can be the hometown heroes. The ones that know the signs, and see Jesus.
