Even One

Do you ever fell so unworthy of God's love that you wonder why He bothered to save you? Sure, He saved millions, but what if it had been just one? Why would He bother to save one undeserving mess?

In Genesis 18 you see God decided to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah because the outcry against them was great and their sin was very grave. (Verses 20-21)

Abraham goes to God and says, "Will you indeed sweep away the righteous with the wicked?" He asked God if fifty righteous men were found in that detestable place, would He still destroy it? The Lord said he would spare it for fifty righteous people. (Verses 22-26)

Slowly Abraham worked his way down with five missing here and there. He got all the way down to ten people. God told Abraham He would not destroy Sodom and Gomorrah for ten righteous people. He would spare the city for their sake. (Verses 27-33)

God's love and compassion for the theoretical ten people was so real, that He would not destroy them with the evil people of that land. God doesn't just say stuff like you or I. When He says it, He means it.

"So that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith-that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God." Ephesians 3:17-19

God's love for us surpasses all knowledge. It is so strong that He went to the length of death to save us from the depths of hell. But even if He could only save a few of us, or even just one, He still would have gone to hell and back.

He bothered to save us because of His amazing love for you and I.

Whenever the feelings of unworthiness come, remember that Jesus died for you, and let His love fill you.
