The Ultimate High Priest

"Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin."
Hebrews 4:14-15

The pharisees, high priests, and religious leaders in that age were, "white washed tombs." They pretended to be completely righteous. They looked down their long noises at the people around them, and judged them for their struggles.

A new high priest has been chosen. And He does not judge us for our failures. He sympathizes with us because He lived through it, too. He shows us compassion. He understands. He has never pretended that we are simply awful for dealing with temptations. He gets it. And that's the really awesome thing.

Jesus has never been filled with anger, hatred, or arrogance because of our struggles. I hope you've never imagined Him ready and waiting to launch fire balls at you. He has always been filled with love and sympathy for us, because He has been there. He knows what it's like. Because of His example, He is truly able to help us overcome any doubt, fear, and temptation.

We are so blessed, because we have the ultimate High Priest Who can relate to us, rather than ignore us! That's pretty awesome!
