His mother said to the servants, "Whatever He says to you, do it." John 2:5
These were and are some pretty powerful words that Mary spoke to the servants! Think about it? "Whatever?" No telling what He might say to do! Luckily for these servants it turns out that it wasn't anything too difficult or too impossible a task for them to accomplish. "Fill the waterpots with water," and "Take some to the master of the feast." Both commands were easy for them to do. Both were tasks that were within the realm of what would be expected from the servants attending to things at the wedding. Believe it or not but this is the point that I want to share with you today. Nothing that He commands us as His servants is to difficult or beyond the possibility of what can be reasonably expected from the servants who attend Him!
He doesn't require us to do anything that He isn't prepared to equip us to do. From the moment He commanded the servants to fill the waterpots "the miracle" was in play! As they obeyed His commands 'to fill' and then 'to take' they were equipped to be used to reveal His glory!
The truth is we are His servants and it is our job to 'be filled' (He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water. But this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those believing in Him would receive. John 7:38-39) It is also our job 'to take' and as we do to reveal His glory to the world. (And He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will follow those who believe. In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover. Mark 16:15-18. And as you go, preach, saying, 'The kingdom of heaven is at hand.' 'Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons. Freely you have received, freely give." Matthew 10:7-8)
As servants of the Lord Jesus Christ we need to not only understand but to always trust and obey His commands because He will always put 'the miracles' in play to equip us to take His glory to the world! When we, like these servants, step out to be filled with His presence, His words, His Spirit then HE Will do the transforming and set the miracles in play so that we can fulfill His next command ; to take it to whomever He sends us to next!
