"Her Moment Of Choice"

By faith Sarah herself also received strength to conceive seed, and she bore a child when she was past the age, because she judged Him faithful who had promised. Hebrews 11:11

And the Lord visited Sarah as He had said, and the Lord did for Sarah as He had spoken. For Sarah conceived and bore Abraham a son in his old age, at the set time of which God had spoken to him. Genesis 21:1-2

Living a life of faith means that "we judge Him faithful" no matter what things look like in the natural. Every time I read this verse in Hebrews 11 about Sarah bearing Isaac in her old age even though she was past such things it reminds me to hold on to the promises of God in my life. The truth is if He always brings His Word to pass and as His people we need to remember that!  The key here is to know because we know that He is faithful to keep His Word by as it explains in the verse in Genesis it will come to pass in His perfect timing!

"Is anything too hard for the Lord? At the appointed time I will return to you, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son." Genesis 18:14

God made this statement to Sarah after she 'laughed within herself' when she heard Abraham being informed that "Sarah, your wife shall have a son." She laughed within herself at the news of a son. Why? Because her first response was to scoff at the possibility because both she and Abraham were already PAST the possibility of it. Verse 11 puts it this way ..."Now Abraham and Sarah were old, well-advanced in age; and Sarah had passed the age of childbearing." Sarah's first response was to 'laugh within herself' and to see the irony of this promise. Her first response at hearing the news was to laugh and scoff because her first thought was to look at the natural. Her first thought was her age and to question her ability to bear a child ...now? "Therefore Sarah laughed within herself, saying, "After I have grown old, shall I have pleasure, my Lord being old also?"  The Lord, immediately spoke His answer to her doubt with ..."Is anything to hard for the Lord? At the appointed time I WILL bring it to pass!"

This now becomes Sarah's moment choice! This is where she makes the choice to 'judge Him faithful who promised.'

Her first response was to look at the natural and to scoff at the possibility. God speaks to her and she chooses to trust Him instead. She stops looking at the impossibility of her situation and starts trusting His Word about what was to come. She decided to believe God! She decided that with Him it was possible and it would come to pass. She decided to put her faith in the promise of ...nothing is to hard for the Almighty! She decided to wait on Him and the appointed time.

How do we know that she stopped scoffing and started believing ...? Because ... By faith Sarah herself also received strength to conceive seed, and she bore a child when she was past the age, because she judged Him faithful who had promised. Hebrews 11:11

The truth is, that we too sometimes look at the natural outcomes and forget to trust His Word on the situation when what we really need to remember is this ... Nothing is to hard And He is always faithful!
