"Dress For The Occasion"

I will greatly rejoice in the Lord, My soul shall be joyful in my God; For He has clothed me with garments of salvation, He has covered me with the robe of righteousness, As a bridegroom decks himself with ornaments, And as a bride adorns herself with her jewels. For as the earth brings forth its bud, As the garden causes the things that are sown in it to spring forth, So the Lord God will cause righteousness and praise to spring forth before all the nations. Isaiah 61:10-11
As I read the above passage today it brought to mind this simple thought about the garments we put on. I know that when I have an important function to attend, I dress for the occasion. I might change outfits any number of times until I find the perfect one that looks right and feels right for the event.

Anyways, the above passage got me to thinking about how in the natural we make sure we are dressed appropriately for the occasion even if it means we need to go out and buy a new outfit but what about when we meet with the king of glory?  In the above passage it starts by saying, "I will greatly rejoice in the Lord, My soul shall be joyful in my God; For He has clothed me with garments of salvation, He has covered me with the robe of righteousness," Do we meet him with an attitude that says "I will greatly rejoice?" Are we clothed in our garment of praise every time we come into His presence? Is the cry of our hearts, "I will greatly rejoice in You Lord!"

"As a bridegroom decks himself with ornaments, And as a bride adorns herself with her jewels. For as the earth brings forth its bud, As the garden causes the things that are sown in it to spring forth, So the Lord God will cause righteousness and praise to spring forth before all the nations."

I tend to think our bridegroom is decked out to meet with us. Are we, His Beloved, decked out in all our best garments when we meet with Him? Its His heart that our 'righteousness and praise spring forth before all the nations." Are we truly decked out in our robes of righteousness and our garments of praise as we declare to the nations that He is our Beloved?

Our garments of salvation, and our garments of praise, and our robes of righteousness are the best outfits possible because they make it possible for you and I to be dressed in all our best finery when we approach the God of all creation.  In them we come to Him clean, and righteous, and full of joy!
