Let Your Burdens Go

I don't know about you, but I am tired of feeling guilt. Guilt plagues us, never leaving us alone. Our past sins haunt us.

Why do we give our past sins this power over us? We know that we are forgiven. Why do we let the guilt hold us back? We know that we are fallen. We know that we don't deserve the love and mercy of God. But we have accepted His Salvation!

"There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus." Roman 8:1

If we have accepted Jesus, we no longer need to be ashamed of our past. We all have many, many things that we have done that we carry with us.

"He has removed our sins as from us as far as the east is from the west." Psalm 103:12

Don't carry it anymore. Let it go. Give it to God. Lay down your burdens.

"This High Priest of ours understands our weakness, for He faced all of the same testings we do, yet he did not sin. So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most." Hebrews 4:15,16

The past is done and gone. Don't think that you are undeserving of the mercy of Jesus. He loves us, regardless of the things that we have done. Remember the Samaritan woman at the well.

Jesus said, "You're right! You don't have a husband - for you have had five husbands, and you aren't even married to the man you're living with now. You certainly have spoken the truth!" John 4:17b,18

What about David? He sinned, murdered, coveted, disobeyed God. Yet the Bible says in Acts 13:22 that he was a man after God's own heart.

Do you think that God holds your sins against you? Of course not! Do you think that you should hold yourself to a higher standard? Think about it! Don't dwell on those wrongs anymore. They are gone in God's eyes. Let them go, for once and for all.

Sam
