"God's Watch This Moment"

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. 2 Corinthians 5:17
      --------------------------------------
Have you ever wondered what it must have been like for Adam and God in the Garden as God would create a new creature and bring them to Adam to name it. Genesis 2:18-20 Do you think it was like hard work, creature after creature; or was it something that was fun and involved a lot of laughter? Looking at creation, I tend to think it was the latter.

I also think that God might of had an "Adam, watch this!" moment as He dropped a little blob of a thing on a branch beside Adam. Adam looks and doesn't seem too impressed with the newest creation. He looks from the blob to God and back to the blob. It starts to move. It lifts the front part a little like its feeling things out and then it brings its back up towards its front. It is now all hunched up in the middle. It then moves the front forward and stretches out. As Adam watches waiting for.... it starts the process over. Adam again looks to God with a question on his face that reads, "What was so special about this slow moving blob?" God just asks, "What are you going to call it?" Adam calls it a caterpillar ready to move on to the next creature, kinda shaking his head wondering, "Why did God make that blob?"

Instead of moving on, God says, "Adam, watch this." He stretches out his hand, takes the caterpillar and moves it to the corner of a small branch, blows on it with the gentlest of breaths and stands back, smiling. Adam again turns back to see what God wants to show him with new interest in the creature. It looks the same except now its wrapping itself in this white stuff. Adam looks back at God who is still just standing there smiling at him and asks, "What is it doing?" God simply responds by putting his hand on Adam's shoulder as He nods towards the caterpillar and once again says, "Watch." At this point it is finishing off the process of closing itself inside and is completely immersed inside the white stuff. After a few minutes of no action Adam is thinking to himself, "Okay, so now what?" God picks this moment to lean forward and once again blow ever so gently on the the white blob attached to the branch and almost whispering says, "Watch this."

Adam, who now has a sense of expectation rising up inside knows something cool is about to happen. He wants to look at God but can't for fear of missing it. The white stuff starts moving. A hole starts to appears as the caterpillar tries to come out. A head is working its way out. It looks a little different. It has long antennae on it. As more and more start to come out of the white stuff Adam realizes its not the same ugly slow moving blob. Its beautiful! It has all kinds of colors and it now has...It has Wings! As he realized the caterpillar is no longer a caterpillar Adam looks over at God with nothing but joy and amazement on his face. "You changed it!" All the wonder and joy he felt in that moment could be heard as his laughter rang out and the caterpillar flew around his head and then went and landed on the tip of God's finger.

"I think it needs a new name, don't you, Adam?" His joy at Adam's wonder also evident by His tone and the expression of pleasure on His face as He gazed over at Adam.

Adam thought for a moment. It was such an ugly blob and now it was beautiful and colorful. It could only hump and bunch along before but now it could fly. Flying and beautiful were way better! "Butterfly!" "Butterfly, we'll call it a butterfly!" he exclaimed, and once again laughter filled the air as the butterfly took flight. After all it was a new creature and it had a world of possibilities to explore!
     -------------------------------------
Now, I realize this "Watch This Moment" is just my imagination at work. We don't really know about all that took place in the Garden and so on, but we do know what it is like for us as we come to know Jesus as our Lord and Savior. We do know what it is like to go from old to new in Him. I know that I'm not who I used to be! I know that He transformed me into a new person. He gave me a new heart and a new life full of amazing possibilities in Him.

In the natural the caterpillar goes into that secret place totally immersed in his cocoon where he transforms into a new creation. As you and I go into our secret place with God we too become totally immersed in Him when we say, "Yes." to Him. The blood covers the sins of our past and we become new creatures no longer bound by the past but set free to soar like butterflies or maybe even eagles! The old is gone and the new in Christ takes over! We become new in Christ. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. 2 Corinthians 5:17 All THINGS HAVE BECOME NEW. Past tense. Have become. The same way the caterpillar needed a new name because it was no longer a blob, but a totally new creature. We need to understand that we are no longer bound by what the past was for us(The hump and bunch approach.) but by what the new holds ahead of us. (Taking flight!)

The possibilities in Him are endless if we will just believe that He is more than able to transform us into His image! He turns a blob like creature into a butterfly! Water into wine! Lets a donkey talk! Raises the dead! Drops manna from heaven! Heals every disease! Parts the Red Sea! Tears down a wall with a shout! Stops the mouth of lions! He even made the sun and moon stand still at the words of his servant! All things are possible in Him and through Him; even a new you!

If you will immerse yourself in Him there is no way you will come out the same! Don't believe me? Say, "Yes." and then, "Watch!"
