"Treasure In Heaven"

Today's message is just a thought I had while reading in Matthew today. Check it out.

Jesus said, "Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." Matthew 6:19-21

Did you catch what He said? "DO NOT lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal." He very clearly starts with the DO NOT first in His instructions. He is telling us to NOT make laying up treasure on earth the priority of of our life.

Instead He tells us to go after treasure in heaven and He ends with this statement ..."For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."

So what does all that mean? Is he telling us not to put money in the bank or save up for a rainy day in case a thief comes to steal it? No, Of course not. He is telling us to to love the things of God more than the things of earth. Loving God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength.

A certain someone came to mind as a perfect example of someone who treasured the ways of God more than the treasure of  earth. She can be found in Luke 21:2-4. Take a look at the treasure in her heart.

Then He looked up and saw the rich putting their gifts in the treasury, and He saw also a certain poor widow putting in two mites.
So He said, "Truly I say to you that this poor widow has put in more than all; for all these out of their abundance have put in offerings for God, bur she out of her poverty has put in all the livelihood that she had."
Remember, the treasure in your heart... is the thing or the ONE you love the most. DO NOT  let it be anything or anyone other than the "treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal"

God Bless!!!
