"Great And Mighty Things"

"Thus says the Lord who made it, the Lord who formed it to establish it (the Lord is His name):  "Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know." Jeremiah 33:2-3
      --------------------------------------------------

Lord, I think that all too often, when we as your people, or at least, when I come into Your Presence to call to You about a situation,  I already have a preconceived answer from You in mind and Lord, I am here today to say that I'm sorry. Lord, I'm sorry if I have set limits and not been open to receive all the great and mighty things that You have desired to share with me. Help me and those like me to call upon You with open hearts and minds. Help us to be open to all the great and mighty possibilities that lay before You as You answer our calls. Lord, Peter thought he was dreaming when You sent an angel to release him from prison; and those who had spent all their time praying for his release didn't even believe Rhoda's report that he was at the door. They weren't even open to the possibility that You had heard their prayers and a great and mighty deed was done in answer to their call....

"Then the angel said to him, 'Gird yourself and tie on your sandals" and so he did. And he said to him, "Put on your garment and follow me." So he went out and followed him, and did not know that what was done by the angel was real, but thought he was seeing a vision. When they were past the first and the second guard posts, they came to the iron gate that leads to the city, which opened to them of its own accord; and they went out and went down one street, and immediately the angel departed from him. And when Peter had come to himself, he said, "Now I know for certain that the Lord has sent His angel, and has delivered me from the hand of Herod and from all the expectation of the Jewish people." So, when he had considered this, he came to the house of Mary, the mother of John whose surname was Mark, where many were gathered together praying. And as Peter knocked at the door of the gate, a girl named Rhoda came to answer. When she recognized Peter's voice, because of her gladness she did not open the gate, but ran in and announced that Peter stood before the gate. But they said to her, "You are beside yourself!" Yet she kept insisting that it was so. So they said, "It is his angel." Now Peter continued knocking; and when they opened the door and saw him, they were astonished. Acts 12:8-16

Lord, as Your people let us be continually open to possibilities that You have great and mighty things in store for us! Let us be open to any miraculous or angelic intervention on our behalf. Lord, help us not be a people who misses You because our eyes are focused elsewhere. Lord, Let us be a people who believe that with You ..."All things ARE possible" simply because You have promised it.

Lord, my hearts cry, even in this moment is, "Show me! Show me all the great and mighty things that You desire. Lord, I say, "Yes!" to any "great and mighty" unknown, miraculous, sign and wonder, cool God thing that You have to offer. Lord, I don't ever want to be the one saying, "It can't be," like those who had spent the and then day praying for Peter did when speaking to Rhoda when she told them that God had heard their prayers and Peter was at the door.

Lord ... my hearts desire ... to always be like Rhoda, so overcome and blown away by how amazing and awesome You are that I forget to open the door! Or Maybe?  My greatest desire ...is to be like Rhoda and recognize Your "great an mighty things" when  they come knocking at my door!
